For travelers who come on their own

Lodging, restaurants, gifts, transportation
  • Good hotels that are reasonably priced

Paris is dotted with small hotels whose prices are relatively low (they are much more difficult to find in London or New York).

The mirror is in the lobby of the hotel mentioned as "excellent" below. It reflects a poetic "covered passage".

Here are some recommendations:

Near the métro Pasteur, in the south

• Spartan but adequate: convenient transportation, Eiffel Tower view from some windows, hometown Paris....

In the Left Bank's Saint-Germain-des-Près

• Refined: exceptional attention to detail, minutes from a spectacular stroll across the Seine.

In the Marais, a hotel that loves movies

Original. The former directeur of the casino at "The Sands", where Frank Sinatra sang, regularly stays this hotel.

Excellent: At the end of this poetic "covered passage", a 10-minute walk from Opéra, hides the best hotel value we know. Clients who have come for years reserve at this refined and hidden-away place several months in advance.

NB: Never at a loss for clients, these hotels don't give "deals" (or commissions). But, because they know us, they treat our guests with extra consideration and we can sometimes arrange for a special service.

  • B&Bs

In the historic "Marais", five minutes' from the Picasso Museum

Single Parisians, who are relatively mobile, may rent their apartments to visitors whom we recommend. Costs vary: Knowing your budget will help us recommend.

There's much more space than hotels offer, you go to restaurants only when you wish and you meet delightful hosts, whose tips will help you discover the neighborhood.

  • Restaurants

• Particular restaurants for particular requests

A place to give her the ring.

• A place to give her an engagement ring. This 19th-century restaurant has preserved its intimate salons particuliers, which candle-light make deeply romantic.

• Next day. If the fiancé is a "meat and potatoes man", we suggest a convivial restaurant with hearty portions.

In neighborhoods where many restaurants are "touristy", we propose our own choices...

    •  Transport – a car and driver can be very useful. The cost is reasonable

Fabrice is a cultivated English-speaking driver...
whose remarks add to the interest of the visits.
His car, a Volkswagon Caravelle 2008, is exceptionally comfortable. It seats eight passengers. Two can ride next to the driver, which lets them see particularly well.
