    Her grand-daughter is a young opera singer whose career is beginning well. A concert can conclude the event.

    Her great-great-grand-grandfather was Alexander Swoboda, a Hungarian Orientalist painter who in the 1860's travelled throughout the Ottoman Empire with his daughter.

     

    Their voyage led her to write a dramatic historical novel - "I made up the story," she says, "and then I learned that much of what I said was true."

     

    This great-grandmother became a painter herself.
