- Fridays and Saturdays – jazz for neighbors in Montmartre
|
 |
 - Montmartre remains a village. This café is for neighbors.
This family-run café is reputed for its jazz. The clientèle is so local that it's rowdy (and even more fun) on rugby nights. The music stops in July and August, when Parisians leave and tourists arrive. Costs: normal for a soirée with music, that is, about 6,80 € per glass (of whatever). |

- Often on Saturdays, 8-10 pm – African musicians meet their media...
in a Cameroonian record store. Europeans are welcome, but rarely know about this unpublicized place, which has been an African landmark since the 1960's. Yet the performances are outstanding. Dancing and refreshments follow, in a generous, family-style atmosphere whose elegance lies in its easy grace. Cost :nothing, but your may want to purchase the artist's CD, or another of African music. |

 - Our hostess, center right
Patirica Laplante-Collins, who is from Atlanta and has lived in Paris for many years, loves having people come over. So she opens her home near Notre-Dame on Sunday nights. Guests are visitors, expats and English-speaking Parisians. Evenings include a talk, which is often about Paris, and, en plus, a home-cooked supper (20 €).
